Dame Hannah Rogers Trust works across two sites in Devon – at Ivybridge and Seale-Hayne on the outskirts of Newton Abbot – Hannahs provides learning, care, support and fun for children and adults with a range of disabilities
The Challenge
The Trust wanted to consolidate and simplify their communications. With separate telephone systems and lines across their two sites, their network was expensive and complex to manage. They also had lots of telephone cable but very little structured cabling which ruled out the use of IP phones in many places.
It was a pleasure working with Cobalt. From conception to completion the process was painless. We had almost 300 extensions to migrate over to the new system in as short a period as possible and to keep everything operating seemed like a miracle, but it couldn’t have gone more smoothly.

The Solution
We made use of the Leased Lines to provide a new 3CX telephony solution. By ‘bridging’ the two systems together, all users on both sites could be managed from one simple interface. Linked-up systems allow users to see who is on the phone at the remote site. Our 3CX solution also allowed us to reuse their existing copper telephone cables, avoiding a costly installation of network cable throughout the sites.
A Little Extra
As the Federation expands it makes it easy to add extra users to any of the sites without having to worry about hardware limitations. The Schools also benefit from access to more advanced features like call recording for many of their users.
